Visa Sponsorships for Students & Visiting Scholars

Before their arrival at UConn, Office of General Counsel (OGC) and International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) will ask the Principal Investigator sponsor to complete the Deemed Export Verification Form to include the prospective student/visiting scholar’s CV. This process is required for all foreign national J-1 and H-1B visa applicants to UConn and UConn Health.

UConn’s Export Control Office will conduct a review of the prospective visitor through Visual Compliance checks, review of sponsored funding source(s), and research subject matter to verify deemed export risks. UConn’s Export Control Office may request the PI to complete a Principal Investigator Certification and Access Control Plan (PICACP).
